A trip of Siliau

25/11/2006

Today I have something that I personally feel that it is very special to share. Well, from the picture above, the 4 little girls are from an isolated place in Port Dickson, Malaysia. They are from a very poor family that their house is attacked by white ant and they cannot even pay their own electric and water bills. Their father has just recovered from stroke and cannot even move one of the hand. In addition, he also drinks and smokes a lot. The worst thing is, the father is not working and there are 8 children in the family. So the children will work for part time during their holidays. They barely have any entertainment. As their house is in an oil palm estate. The charity association in Port Dickson had sent help to them. My godfather (the oldman in the picture, ha) has been asked by his superior to help the children to fix their house. He did, and since after that, my godfather always brings the children around to eat and walk, at least let them enjoy some of the things that they never experienced before. My godfather sympathize them, as he was from a very poor and complicated family last time. Today is my godfather’s open house party. He also invited the kids over to have some fun. Eating, singing and dancing is the joy of the day. When my godfather was sending them back home just now, I followed my godfather as well. In the car, I put in Joi’s latest album. What surprise me most is that some of the kids know how to sing some of Joi’s song!! Yea, they knew how to sing “Deng Yi Ge Qing Tian”, “Ri Chu” and “You Yi Tian Wo Hui”. They sing it out loud in the van, happily. I was amazed, because for their condition of their living environment, entertainment is very limited, I suppose the only source that they can get to know Joi’s song is by listening to the FM channel in Malaysia.

My English sux, so I don’t really know how to express well on what is on my mind. But I do feel that it’s really glad to know that the children like Joi’s music. The smile on the children face is the something very valuable that make me feel touch. They have limited things to hold, but maybe that is why they know how to be happy easily. Perhaps this is just a normal case for you all, but it did touch the bottom of my heart. And, my godparents are fans of Joi as well, hahaha. They like the way she sings and how she brings out the meaning and feeling of the song. Joi, thanks for singing out such a beautiful music and thanks for making people around us happy. What I wanna say is, do keep on the good work and do believe in the music that you hold on to, because that is all what we believe in and that is what that makes us touch.

p/s: The picture above is my godfather helping one of the kid to celebrate her birthday in his house.
